FEATHERS.

Loving this dress from Givenchy's Spring 09 Runway. I love the light lilac hue which lends itself nicely to the airy quality of the dress and I'm absolutely loving the FEATHERS!!!! I'm really into the details of garments, but it has to be done right of course - here it adds just the right amount of detail without over powering the rest of the dress and making it look like a huge ridiculous headdress. Its a gorgeous day out today in LALA Land - did some sketching this morning and now I'm thinking about going in and adding some feathers to some of my dresses - oooo and FRINGE! Yes fringe, I'm loving the idea of that! Stay tuned....

Blonde Bomb

Farrah Fawcett - the iconic blonde with the feathered locks was a style icon and sex symbol.
Her casual, laid back style combined with her killer hair made her the envy of
girls everywhere and eye candy for fellas across the nation. I can't recall going into a single
garage growing up and NOT seeing a poster of Farrah in her red one piece swimsuit
hanging over the tool bench. From Charlie's Angel to Angel this beauty will be not soon be forgotten.

Dance Party Friday: Michael Jackson

Its my last day here at LF and what better way to celebrate than having a MJ tribute concert in my office and groovin all day long? From Jackson 5 to his solo career, MJ never disappointed - he was born to perform on the stage. This man brought us countless hit songs and was a style icon in his own right - who else could wear one bedazzled glove and be cool? I'll tell you who - NO ONE!!! Michael Jackson is a LEGEND. He will never be forgotten, no matter if he was "Black or White."

Thursday Afternoon Delight

OBSESSSSSSSSSSSING

WANT.NEED.MUST HAVE.

Bona Drag means "nice outfit." the words come from a secret language called Polari that was used by the gay culture of London in the 60's. HOW FREAKING AWESOME IS THAT???????

Valley of the Dolls

Clearly I have nothing to do on my second to last day of work except work on my own collection ideas! One of my favorite blogs to visit is ilovemelproducts.blogspot.com. Mel is such a creative artist - I love how she comes up with her own coloring books especially because they are fashion themed. I must own the Magazine Covers coloring book, for my plane ride to Maui next month! I also found these must have paper dolls of Kate Moss and Agyness Deyn. These are screaming collector item and I'm just blown away by the idea as a whole! ENJOY!

Quote of the Day: Sienna Miller

"It looks like I'm having a Mad Hatter's tea party or my own private non-birthday."
Her hotel room is like her life: complicated, messy, public, fun.

Photobucket

"I'm a real relationship person—contrary to public perception. I'm either in one or I'm not. I get kind of emotionally involved very quickly, and I'm not going to spend time with someone unless I love them. But it's not hard for me to fall in love."

Excuse me, Sienna Miller - did you just crawl into my brain or what? I thought maybe this indicated that
she was a Scorpio like myself, but she is in fact a Capricorn. I have literally said these words on more than one occasion so you can imagine my surprise while flipping through my Vogue last night and seeing them in print.
Regardless of her astrological sign, I love her and speaking of love -
I LOVE this GUCCI dress and this photograph by Craig McDean.

The Dying Swan

The costumes that Karl has exclusively designed for The Dying Swan as part of the English National Ballet are phenomenal works of art. This is the level of intricate design that I hope to bring to my own collection one day. Its all in the details - details sell me and Karl consistently brings this level of detail to each of his collections for the House of Chanel, which is why I'm drawn time and time again to all things Chanel.

Richie Rich

I used to sit in my closet like this when I was a little girl....

Oh the treasures that must lie in that closet!

Obsessed with this dress - the embellishment is amazing - quality work right there.

From mere socialite to glamazon - Nicole Richie has certainly worked her way to the top
and cleaned up her act along the way! I love her style and easy breezy nature.
What I wouldn't give to spend a day picking her brain and playing in her closet - or
with her adorable daughter Harlow for that matter. Nicole's jewelry line House of Harlow 1960
has also piqued my interest over the last few months. I'm really excited to see what she comes up with next!

Clearly not doing any productive work work this morning - but I guess when you work in
fashion then writing a fashion blog is technically work, right?! Right......I was browsing through topshop.com early this morning and came across a few items I must have for my
ever increasing wardrobe. I've already been concocting outfits in my head revolving around
the necklace and corset with skinny jeans and my leather motorcycle jacket - as for the dress,
its just the perfect summer frock and the zipper detail down the front made it an
immediate money down item in my mind!

I Kissed a Girl and Woke Up in Vegas . . .

Katy Perry burst onto the scene sometime last year and I've been obsessed
with her funky glamour style from day one. However, when I got the chance to meet her
at the opening of the Chanel Boutique on Robertson last May, it became official - I have a huge
girl crush on Katy Perry and I don't care who knows it!!!

Inspired - you know I love to Recycle and make things new. I've been
sitting on a few old pieces that I want to remake into something fabulous....
still looking for more hours in a day to do all the things I have in my lil head.
How awesome is this though? I want to ask this girl what it felt like to know
that at any given moment one wrong turn could slice her open....

Audrey Hepburn in Funny Face 1957

Funny Face is one of the greatest movies of all time!! Lets be honest, who wouldn't love a movie about a girl who was discovered in a bookstore and then went on to dance with Fred Astaire through Paris wearing haute couture?  When I was browsing throughthe Resort 2010 collections I came across a fascinating discovery - some of the things I was loving in the collection were reminiscent of the fashions from the movie. I was instantly obsessed with DVF when I watched the girls strut down the runway with AMAZING oversized bow headpieces in different fabrics and then there was Zac Pozen's collection - naturally I feel in love with his use of what can only be described as "Pepto-Bismol Pink." From gowns to shoes his use of the color was just the right amount of pop to brighten up the collection. You can bet your life that I've already thrown some bows in my own sketches, but I'm not giving up my designs just yet - this is the internet after all ;) xx Lolita

Not Lovin' the Usually Lovely Michelle

Recently I've been obsessed with Michelle Obama's sophisticated style, but..........

.....SERIOUSLY - what is going on here? This skirt looks like something that Sasha or Malia should be sportin, but not Mrs. O. I fear for the designer that concocted this skirt for a grown woman. No one over the age of 7 should be caught in this and that is a cold hard fact. Tiers like that belong on a child's birthday cake - not on the First Lady!

She had it right the first time - this is the way you do ruffles! Still heart her classy ways.
