Fashion is a Religion. This is the Bible.

THE SEPTEMBER ISSUE: 2007

Okay where to begin.... I spent my Friday evening snuggled up with my current September Issue of Vogue, a bottle of wine and a screener's copy of the new documentary, "The September Issue" (thanks to my roomie Laura). Seeing as it doesn't hit LA theaters for another 2 weeks and not to mention that I've been waiting for-EVER to see it, you can only imagine how excited I was to pop it in my DVD player.
Although I was un-impressed with the lack of "new or surprising" information on Anna Wintour - I was shocked to see Grace Coddington come to life before my eyes. The passion that she has for her job is truly inspirational. I was also intrigued by the relationship between Wintour and Coddington - one would think that after working together for so many years they would have a more trusting relationship, but then again its always been Wintour's vision that runs the publication at the end of the day. All in all I'd say it was predictable. Anna Wintour is not warm and fuzzy and Grace Coddington is not Glamourous, but they are talented and without them I wouldn't have a Bible to read at bedtime ;)

Its LOVE/HATE or something..."I DIE"

Photobucket

One of the things I love/hate to admit - okay make that 2 things......
1.) I watch SOME reality television 2.) I watch the Rachel Zoe Project. I have this huge love/hate relationship with "reality" shows. Part of me feels like I need to be up on all things pop culture/fashion to carry on a conversation with anyone I may run into in my day to day (and give me credit, I also keep up on current events for these situations as well, duh.) Honestly though, lets face it there are two types of people - those who watch reality shows and then everyone else who makes fun of them and people that watch them. I'm currently struggling and will admit that maybe I need to find a third type of person because at times I belong to both of the aforementioned camps.
I'll admit - Rachel Zoe is not one of my fav stylists, however I do note her importance to the industry - personal feelings aside. That's right I do have personal feelings towards her - I've encountered her and her assistants Taylor and Brad when I worked for a small PR firm that represented Chanel and Sergio Rossi. However interesting my experiences were with them, I'd prefer to not say anything unpleasant so I will just leave it at that....I have personal feelings ;)
So needless to say when I found out about the show I HAD to WATCH. Why do you ask? Because in the previews I saw one of the CHANEL couture dresses that I had delivered to them in one of the scenes. Clearly I was intrigued - how much overlap did my experiences with them end up in the show? How much REALITY is in "reality tv?" Of course I had to find out....so watch I did, every week and naturally with all things fashion related I became hooked. I was fascinated. I NEEDED to know more. I wanted to be in her shoes, but not really at the same time - like I said there were those pesky personal feelings of mine ;) Regardless I was shocked to see that the show is making it back for a second season, but you and I both know I'm watching it right now and going "Bananas!"

Happy Birthday Bets

The infamous PINK FIREBALL who is Betsey Johnson turns 67 today and what a ride she has had thus far! One look at this fun loving - cheetah wearing - blonde, and you know you're in for a good time. Betsey is full of surprises in her designs as well as her shows - this year instead of cart-wheeling down her usual runway, she invited everyone to her studio to see her Fall 2009 RTW collection in a mock "Betsey Crocker Kitchen." How fun is that? Betsey called the show a "Happy eating/drinking show with HOT WAITER GUYS." Hmm why wasn't I invited again....
I admire this woman and her ability to do anything and make it chic and inspiring. Her "anything
goes" attitude and design sense makes Betsey a leading designer in the fashion industry - one
really can never tell what she will do or design next, but its always FABULOUS!
On a side note - I'm anxiously awaiting the debut of her new line of Tees! I'm sure I'll be
coveting most of her ridiculously fun graphics and prints....
Happy Birthday Bets!
