Its that time of year where I yearn for long sunny days and a closet full of fresh colors.

I'm sure being surround by neon pastels all day at work for the last couple of weeks

hasn't made this craving any easier. I'm happy to see that its finally staying light out later, but yesterday's bout of rain did nothing to keep me in a spring state of mind. Le sigh. I suppose I'll just have to keep these images from the Feb. issue of Vogue Nippon fresh in my mind until the skies become more blue than grey.

This week's wine is brought to you by Cost Plus World Market. I was there last night perusing the wine aisles as I often do, when I came upon this Merlot. I've been experimenting with reds lately and its been a fun adventure. Clearly the cute name and image caught my eye on this bottle and I have to say, I rather enjoyed it. Overall a win win purchase. My hectic schedule has left little time for blogging lately! Things don't look like they'll be slowing down anytime soon, so I'm going to have to figure out a new plan. My weekend was full to the brim with fabulous activities and way too MUCH CAKE. Okay well we all know there is no such thing as too much cake, but I will say there was a lot of baking and decorating going on. I'm happy to report that the Thing 1 & Thing 2 loved their cakes and the cupcakes were gone in seconds with all the little ones around. I was smart enough to save one cupcake for myself which I just ate for dinner in exchange for a full night of laundry, dishes, and chores. Sometimes I love being a grown up.

I'm in the process of creating two birthday cakes for some very special twins and my head is spinning with ideas. I have the theme and cake flavor nailed down flat, but this week I'm feeling so inspired by baked goodies, I'm beside myself. I need some more baking opportunities to try out all my new found ideas! ..::Lucky in Love::..

Its been a crazy week, and alas blogging has been at the bottom of the ever long to do list. Instead of my normal Wish-list Wednesday series, I'm reflecting on how grateful I am for what I do have. I'm not normally one to gush about things like candy and flowers on Valentine's day, but perhaps that's because its been a few years since I've had a true Valentine. I've spent countless years alone eating ice cream from the carton on Valentine's day, whilst wishing for my prince charming to rescue me. This year I'm so blessed to have a certain Manfriend in my life who treats me in a way I only thought possible in cheesy romantic comedies. I arrived home from three crazy days in Vegas to flowers, macaroons, and a huge balloon. As if I wasn't thrilled already it was followed by dinner and a night at the Egyptian theater to see Breakfast at Tiffany's which is one of my all time favorite movies. I'm one lucky girl.

I've always been enamored with wine labels. I love to hold the bottle and inspect everything from the typography to the color palette. Fast forward a decade and here I am still obsessed with wine labels. Sometimes I even pick my wine based on how pretty the label is. As a designer I know what good design costs - aka the big bucks. No one is going to pay for a nicely designed label if they aren't bottling a worthy brew (okay this theory has been disproved a couple of times, but surprisingly not that many). While I can't take credit for the above find, I can give a big shout out to my Manfriend for adopting my wine picking philosophy and bringing this home to me. He's a keeper.

Knock, knock - is that opportunity I hear knocking? I guess I'll never know unless, for lack of better words, I CARPE THAT FUCKING DIEM! Seize the day ladies and gents....seize the day. Its been a tough week for this girl. Getting through the days (and nights for that matter) with pain unlike anything I've felt before, has been extremely difficult. But alas its FRIDAY which means I can take pain meds for the next two days since I don't have to go to work. Hoping next week's forecast is a lot brighter - kinda like this neon door. It simply makes me smile for no particular reason.

I can't help but be drawn to the rosie shades of pink this time of year. It just seems so fresh after the drab days of fall/winter.
