..::Oh Oscar::..

The Academy Awards....aka my Superbowl. When you factor in the 2 hour red carpet pre-show it really is an all day event - thank goodness for DVR. I headed over to the Texan's yesterday afternoon to "use" him for his very large TV and DVR-ing privileges. In exchange for being forced to watch the red carpet, he insisted that we grill burgers for dinner, drink beer and play darts while the DVR was working it's magic. Of course I agreed. After all it was a game of darts that brought us together in the first place so how could I resist? Now I can't recall ever watching the Oscars with someone of the male variety, but let me tell you I was quite impressed with the amount of input the Texan had regarding the event. Okay I guess I wasn't that surprised considering he does work in "The Industry", but you know what I'm saying. Although there were a few discrepancies about the show as a whole we mostly agreed that the above ladies were stunning in their frocks. The evening really was a perfect mix of his and her events.

For some reason I woke up bright and early today and popped right out of bed. Now where is that enthusiasm when I have to get up for work everyday? Its not even 9am and I've already put away laundry, compiled two new bags of things to take to goodwill, and cleaned my apt. Now I'm sitting with my coffee dreaming of the endless possibilities for this beautiful day. Shopping is a definite must. Feeling like its time to spoil myself rotten after a week of the flu and 3 fillings at the dentist. I already love today.

There are about a billion reasons I hate being sick. I can now make that one billion and one reasons....try being sick and living alone. Its just about the worst combination ever. Not that I can't take care of myself, but there are some things that are near impossible when you have your head in the toilet the majority of the day...such things as going to the market to pick up the essentials like 7up, saltines, and toilet paper. True story. Thank goodness for my friend EC who came to my rescue! I'm finally feeling more like myself and now my life is in complete disarray. My life is madness at the moment, complete madness. Le sigh, there just aren't enough days in the week when you're sick.

Unfortunately, I didn't strike gold today. The only thing I got after 2 hours of drilling were 3 fillings at the dentist. Not feeling spectacular, however this pretty picture helped. Someone pass the drugs.

Tan. Wooden. Platform. Need I say more?! I think not. I'm dying over these little babies from TOPSHOP. I wish there was a way to try them on before ordering them...without having to hop a plane to NYC. Not fair that they have all the good shopping. Le sigh. These would go perfect with tonight's date outfit so naturally they are all I can think about at the moment. Work should be interesting today....maybe they'll inspire me to create an entire window display using only shoes....

There is nothing I love more than beautiful colors. I try to stick to my neutral palette, but when the striking colors of each season emerge I just can't seem to help myself and the next thing I know my closet ends up resembling a color wheel. When I saw that Pantone released the Fall 2011 colors I went bananas. I'm simply OBSESSING over every hue for the season, which is unusual because without fail there is ALWAYS one I dislike. Like I've said before, 2011 is my year. Love it.

I know its a little late to post my favs from the SAG red carpet, but I wasn't that thrilled with the selection. There were some REALLY hideous choices waltzing down that carpet. Jane Lynch in a lilac monstrosity, Christina Hendricks in a black bathrobe, and Winona Ryder in what I like to call the Bride of Frankenstein. The ladies above however got it right on. I guess they like to be HOT, the others not so much.
