..::Something Old, Something New

Back to reality today and boy was that a shock to my system! I took my new watch for a spin today and I'm in LOVE with it!! Its the perfect size (a little too big) and I'm soooo happy I went with the Silver and not the Gold.....(Big thanks to Mom & Dad!) Also making its first appearance on my wrist (well technically second apperance just a few decades later) is a vintage Portuguese bracelet that my grandma gave me for my birthday this year. She's never forgotten how much I loved to play in her jewelry box when I was little so this year she gifted the rectangular bracelet for my birthday! The antique oval shaped bracelet with the pearls was a gift from her for my college graduation. I'm big on family jewelry, almost everything of mine has some sort of story and to me that is far more precious than anything new. Everyone at work today kept asking about the collection on my wrist, I was even stopped by a stranger during my lunch break who asked where she could find some similar items to add to her jewelry collection. I told her to book a flight to Portugal ;) What are some of your fav pieces of jewelry, new and/or old?

..::Work-a-holic with a Shoe Addiction

When I started my new JOB in August I knew that finding the perfect work shoe was going to be near impossible especially considering that I didn't really know what to expect. With traveling all over to different climates during different seasons, I knew that I could no longer rely on my trusty collection of sandals to do the trick. Shortly after my first work trip I was over come with an overwhelming feeling that finding a comfortable yet STYLISH shoe was going to be a huge problem. In the past 4 months I've tried it all, but always underestimated the toll that running around an empty store carrying/dodging fixtures, mannequins, and merchandise would have on my poor feet.

Two months ago I was in Nordstroms browsing the shoe section in my ongoing effort to find a better work shoe that could withstand the 12-14 hour work days and the elements of where-ever the jet plane is taking me when I stumbled upon a pair of GOLD & SILVER Glitter TOMS. Now I don't know what you know about TOMS Shoes, but let me tell you the most important part - When you buy a pair of TOMS the company gives a pair to a child in need who doesn't have shoes of their own. If that alone doesn't make you want a pair then I don't know what kind of human being you are!

Having previously owned a pair of TOMS I knew how comfortable they were so you can imagine how EXCITED I was when I saw them in the gold and silver glitter style - finally a pair of TOMS that were work appropriate! However, when I tried them on I couldn't decide on which would go best with the majority of my work wardrobe so I sadly left empty handed. Well to my surprise on Friday I saw a random boutique on the edge of Chinatown in SF and when I walked in found a pair of BLACK GLITTER TOMS!!! It was LOVE at first sight. Once they were on my feet there was no turning back.....4 months later the search for the perfect stylish and comfortable work shoe finally came to an end......a SPARKLY END!

..::Birthday Wishes & Chardonnay Dreams

Although Lolopalooza is still in full swing, today was the day - MY BIRTHDAY! I had the most wonderful day full of birthday surprises, wishes, and ended with chardonnay - what more could a girl of twenty something ask for? Guess working today was worth it now that I'll be off once I touch down in LALA LAND on Tuesday morning......looking forward to going home for 4 days to be with family and friends for the long holiday weekend. One more celebration to go!

..::Adventures in SF

Sorry for the lack of posts this week! I'm on a work trip in the Bay Area - 2 store openings back to back = LOTS of work! Today however we did have the day off so two of my co-workers/friends and I drove into San Fran to shop and walk around the city for the day before we checked into our hotel at our next destination. The day was off to a shaky start (literally) as we crossed the swaying Bay Bridge in a major down pour of rain. I think I drove a whopping 20 mph over that bridge today - I could hardly see a thing! Thankfully the rain let up just as we left Fisherman's Warf and decided to hit up Union Sq downtown. Smooooooth sailing after that!

Our day consisted of: Eating clam chowder for lunch, walking around the shops @ Union Sq, trying on rings @ Tiffany & Co, hitting up Chinatown for some authentic souvenirs and ended with me purchasing a pair of black glitter TOMS shoes as an early b-day gift for myself. It was such a great day! The best part of the day was looking at all the Holiday WINDOWS! Unfortch a lot of the windows that I was expecting to photograph (Neimans, Barneys, Macys, etc) were covered because they were still constructing their displays for Black Friday. However, I did snap a few inside Macy's of this amazing perfume display that was above the massive room of perfume counters. I must have smelled a million fragrances in the 10 minutes I was standing there looking at the display! Here are the pics I was able to snap with my iphone before anyone could see me do it! I loved the whimsical nature of this display and the oversized bottles of fragrances - it was amazing to see in person!

Its really quite amazing the amount of info one can find on the internet without much effort. People get "outted" everyday without even knowing it. One small comment here, a picture there and BAM! Even if you're not an active part of the internet world (facebook, myspace, blogging, etc) doesn't mean you're safe.....its dangerous out there. Watch your back....

I LOVE nail polish! And naturally just like my shoe and bag collection, I must have a nail polish for every season and occassion! I'm always looking to add to my rotation and have recently been obsessed with the brand "Sephora by O.P.I." Not only are the colors great, but the names are fun too! I've always thought it would be such a cool job to come up with the names for nail polishes and lipsticks. The above fall collection is named "Autumn & Eve" and I'm dying to try out "Ms. Can't Be Wrong" "Absinthe Makes Heart" & "Meet for Drinks." Perhaps I'll pick one up and test it out for my birthday bash this weekend.....after this work week I know I deserve it....just as much as the 4-day weekend I have coming my way as well!!!

..::Insane Asylum - White Walls

I can't believe that I've been living in my new apt for 6 months and the walls in my bedroom are still completely bare - soooooooo unlike me. My new job has had me all over the place - literally traveling all the time, but I need to get moving and put something up already! I moved in with the intention to try to do a "gallery" type wall with lots of different framed pieces of art like the picture above, but that has yet to happen. Mainly I can't seem to find the images that I want to live with on my walls, but I'm committing to getting something up on them this month. I can't bear to stare at these bare walls another day - its making me go CRAZY!! What do you have on your walls? Any creative tips or ideas welcome!

I love to cook and most importantly I love to bake! I've had my eye on this apron for over a year and everytime I see it at Anthropologie I want to run home and make something in the kitchen! I think my love of baking really stems from the fact that you can get creative with the decoration of baked goods - from icing on cookies, frosting and sprinkles on cupcakes, to a plethora of fun cake molds to make anything your heart desires! I find the whole process to be fun and to me incredibly relaxing. Nothing beats making cute treats for your loved ones!

Who wants a custom costume next year? Opening shop and so so SOOOOOO excited!! I'm bummed I didn't get a solo shot of me in my Mother Nature costume - well at least not one I'm going to post ;)

The bottom was so cute - a tutu made out of moss - it stuck straight out which made manuvering through the crowds a tad difficult, but worth it for the cuteness factor. All in all my greatest costume success to date - already churning out ideas for next year, but that doesn't surprise you now does it?

OH wait that must have been in my dreams last night - hmmm oh well. Honestly, who wouldn't be dreaming over a lovely little gem like this? I was enamored with it upon first sight - hello did you see that adorable sparkly bow? Then I opened it and saw that the inside was metallic gold leather! What a surprise and a good one at that - I just about walked up to the sales lady to buy it right then and there, but then I remembered a silly lil thing called RENT. GRRR. A girl can dream right? Today is the first day of Lolopalooza - I heart November!
