..::Pretty Distractions::..

Too tired to think, but here is something pretty to look at. Install week is almost over....Vegas on Monday and then that will be a wrap on Valentine's Day Window displays. I love that I live my life in the future....

Although I'm always a month a head of real life at work, here are a few things I'm looking forward to in my immediate future: tonight's date with the Texan, cuddling and sleeping in, coffee in bed, Saturday by the beach, brunch with the girls and too many mimosas. Happy Weekend!

My obsession with statement rings continues. At least this time it's actually an affordable option from Urban Outfitters. Now how to get my hands on it is the next question. I haven't seen it in any of the stores yet and I want to try it on. I can't wait for the day that virtual shopping is the norm. You know its coming, don't kid yourself.

I work a lot of awkward hours. And by awkward, I mean there are days that I have to be at work at 6:00 am, which means this night owl needs to wake up at 4:45/5:00 am. You can imagine that I'm not the best at that hour of the day, especially if I haven't had at least one sip of coffee. Days like this call for casual up-do's that take little to no time to create. For the last several months I've been sporting a messy top knot like the first picture, but I was intrigued today when I found the second picture of the blonde. She instantly updated the top knot with a little twist in the front, which makes her look undeniably chic while still casual and fun. How is it that everything is better in Paris? Even a messy up-do? I'm going to try my own version this week while we install our Valentine's Day window displays. Here's hoping mine turns out just as well when I attempt it at 4:45 am tmrw...

I love date night. I think people forget how important it is. This week was fast and slow all at the same time. Slow mostly because I missed the Texan and all I could think about was Friday date night. Now its here and I feel like the week went by in a whirlwind! Now if only the next 9 hours could fly by in a whirlwind so that when my doorbell rings I can open the door and say, "Kiss me, stupid." I've been waiting all week.

I'm having a moment.....a major girl crush moment....Georgia May Jagger. WOW. Naturally we knew the Jagger offspring would be gorgeous, but man has she really grown into a true beauty. Totally obsessed with her Chanel Resort 2011 Campaign. Never ceases to amaze no matter how many times I see it in my magazines. Life must be rough when you're young, beautiful, wearing Chanel and have legendary parents. Sheesh.

As I was wandering through my local Z Gallerie on Saturday, I saw a friend of mine walk by the window as I was contemplating between two frames for my apartment. Naturally, I turned to run towards the door to catch up to him, however, I wasn't paying attention to the architecture and I ended up bumping right into a small wall as I turned the corner. Well it was a good thing I ran into that particular wall, because when I looked up I found the above canvas that needs to be a part of my collection. Having lived all over LaLa Land over the last 8 years, I think its only fitting to have this hanging in my apt. And for anyone out there who has been keeping up lately....it also comes in a variation for Dallas, TX. Ooh-la-la.

..::Everyone's a Critic::..

Ahh, the Golden Globes aka the beginning of Awards Season 2011. Now, you won't hear me say this much, but Sunday night I was really upset by the fact that I don't have cable. GRR. I missed it all and I didn't even think about it until it was too late to catch the pre-show festivities so I gave up and followed the action via Twitter while watching a movie with the Texan at his house. Lucky for me, I've been able to see most of the nominated movies from the comfort of the Texan's couch. Again, how did I ever live without someone in the Entertainment Industry with access to screeners? I was happy to see that Natalie Portman won Best Actress for Black Swan. She really was phenom and if you haven't seen it by now, you MUST! Anyhow, I spent the majority of Monday morning oogling over some of the dresses from Sunday night's show....I'm sure you can understand why. These women look amazing, despite the fact that I want to tell them all to eat a sandwich or hell, maybe even a cupcake every once in a while.

Considering we are having a mini summer in the middle of January out here in Cali, its hard not to think of the upcoming spring season. I've been logging hours doing research for work on Spring/Summer displays and I'd be lying if I said I wasn't wishing it was here already. I'm longing for flirty dresses, bright florals, and leaving the house without a jacket. Le sigh. Until then, I guess I'll just drool over the various spring editorials from years past that I've been collecting for inspiration. In other news, I had a lovely weekend with The Texan exploring new restaurants around LA and watching movies currently still only available on the big screen. He's def spoiling me...how will I ever go to a movie theater again? Feeling like one very LUCKY girl these days.

I almost always buy practical shoes. Practical in the sense that they are are "wearable" and come mostly in varying neutral colors that will go with anything to maximize use. Are they practical when it comes to heel height? Absolutely not. When I walked by Prada yesterday I spotted these gems in the window and immediately started drooling. They are gorgeous. If they didn't come with the hefty price tag, I'd say they were mine, but le sigh, they are a wee bit out of my price range. Especially because my budget doesn't quite have a column labeled "turquoise platform sandals." Too bad, right? Maybe I need to add such a column in this year's spending budget.

After cleaning out my closet for the last week, I've made a strict resolution to only make smart purchases for my wardrobe in 2011. As much as I love to fall in love every 5 minutes, I think this is the year that I slow down and think things through a little more. Testing that theory on the Texan. So far it's working out amazingly well. Now to apply it to the rest of my life...

..::Space Issues::..

I'm pretty sure I've had space issues since the womb. Its become a new year's ritual to start the year off by getting rid of things that are no longer needed to create more "space." My closet, my dresser, my desk....my life. Starting a new year should be about a fresh start and what better way to do that than creating more space in your life for new things? My week has been filled with cleaning, organizing, and donating several bags of clothes to Goodwill. Amongst all the commotion and after digging through the clutter, I can honestly say that I have uncovered the most perfect outfit for my date tonight. That's the thing about a fresh start...you're entire wardrobe is suddenly brand new. I just love falling in love with old friends who have spent months hiding in the back of my closet. Now where can I get my hands on this chainsaw? I have a few other things I'm ready to cut out of my life and maybe remodel my closet a bit.
